Sci-fi action thriller. On the streets of New Orleans, word begins to spread about a mysterious new pill that unlocks superpowers unique to each user. The catch: You don’t know what will happen until you take it. While some develop bulletproof skin, invisibility, and super strength, others exhibit a deadlier reaction. But when the pill escalates crime within the city to dangerous levels, a local cop (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) teams with a teenage dealer (Dominique Fishback) and a former soldier fueled by a secret vendetta (Jamie Foxx) to fight power with power and risk taking the pill in order to track down and stop the group responsible for creating it. Rodrigo Santoro, Machine Gun Kelly Amy Landecker and Courtney B. Vance are also part of the cast.

The brine preserves him perfectly and when he emerges in present-day Brooklyn, he finds that he hasn’t aged a day. But when he seeks out his family, he is troubled to learn that his only surviving relative is his great-grandson, Ben Greenbaum (Seth Rogen), a mild-mannered computer coder whom Herschel can’t even begin to understand.
A dialed down Rogen might be a plus. Will start streaming on HBO Max August 6.

Crime thriller based on a true story, in which an investigative journalist (Josh Hartnett) unravels a twisted case of entrapment wherein a guy from the wrong side of the tracks, Daniel (Antoine-Olivier Pilon), is forced into a dangerous drug deal against his will and is sentenced to 100 years in a Thai prison. As Daniel endures torture and abuse, the journalist must track down the shady undercover cops benefiting off the conspiracy, while also fighting for Daniel’s freedom. Jim Gaffigan, Amanda Crew and Stephen McHattie are also part of the cast.
Probably not as good as the excellent trailer indicates, but according to reviews still worth a look. Now in limited theatrical release and available on Apple TV.
