Funny People, In the Electric Mist, Sleep Dealer, Lorna's Silence, Eleven Minutes

Funny People     HD480p 60MB   HD720p 109MB
Trailer for the latest movie from writer and director Judd Apatow (The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Knocked Up). It's a comedic drama about a seasoned comedian (Adam Sandler) who learns of his terminal, inoperable health condition. This leads to his wish to form a genuine friendship and so he takes a relatively green performer (Seth Rogen) under his wing as his opening act. Leslie Mann, Eric Bana, Jonah Hill and Jason Schwartzman are also part of the cast.
I really don't know what to make of it. Keep in mind that it's a drama. The trailer felt very long but then I realised that it has the unusual length of three and a half minutes. And might already tell the whole movie.

In the Electric Mist     13 MB    Clip1   Clip2   Clip3   Clip4
Dramatic thriller about a veteran detective (Tommy Lee Jones) who, while on an investigation into a series of grisly murders, navigates his way through the Louisiana bayou and the dark, sultry world of a New Orleans mobster (John Goodman). Layers of corruption and long-dead secrets reawaken grudges and a lethal alliance. Peter Sarsgaard, Kelly Macdonald, Mary Steenburgen, Justina Machado and Ned Beatty are also part of the cast. Based on a book by James Lee Burke.
The movie was part of the official competition in Berlin earlier this month but strangely enough will be released on DVD in the US in March (which has the advantage of offering subtitles). Reviews from festivals indicate that it's more about the mood and the characters and not so much about the straightforward solving of a case.

Sleep Dealer     US .mov 50MB   US HD .wmv 87MB    French 13MB
Low budget, dystopian, sci-fi movie from Mexico set in a near-future, militarized world marked by closed borders, virtual labour and a global digital network that joins minds and experiences. Three strangers risk their lives to connect with each other and break the barriers of technology.
Reviews from festivals point out the movie's political statements are a little blunt but it seems to be a very good effort given its very limited budget. Two trailer versions to choose from, one from the US and one from France and it's hard to believe that both are for the same movie. The US version makes it look like as if it's a big(ger) budget action movie which I doubt will be the case so I hope the actual movie's closer to the French one.

Lorna's Silence - Le Silence de Lorna     HD480p 38MB   HD720p 89MB    French 13MB
US trailer for the latest social drama from Belgian brothers Dardenne (The Child, Rosetta). This time they tell the story of Lorna, a young Albanian woman living in Belgium, who has her sights set on opening a snack bar with her boyfriend. In order to do so, she becomes an accomplice in a diabolical plan devised by a mobster. He has set up a false marriage between her and Claudy (Jeremie Renier) allowing Lorna to get her Belgian citizenship. However, she is then asked to marry a Russian mafioso who's ready to pay hard cash to also get his hands on those vital Belgian identity papers.
Movie won the Best Screenplay award last year in Cannes. An alternative trailer in French.

Eleven Minutes     HD480p 21MB   HD720p 69MB    7 Clips
Documentary about Jay McCarroll, the winner of season one of reality TV show "Project Runway". It chronicles his year-long journey preparing his first independent runway show for New York's Fashion Week and the subsequent selling of his line to stores. The result is an in-depth, painfully raw and humorous exploration of the creative process and the constant balancing of commerce with art, fame with talent and reality TV with actual reality.
Limited release in the US starting this weekend. You can find some clips on the official website.
