Babylon A.D., Duchess, Wackness, Kabluey, Boy A, Other Boleyn Girl

Babylon A.D.     HD720p .wmv 85MB   .flv 35MB
US trailer for this darkly futuristic action thriller about a veteran-turned-mercenary (Vin Diesel) who agrees to escort a woman from Russia to Germany, not realizing that she's the host for an organism that a cult wants to harvest into a genetically-modified Messiah. Based on the novel by Maurice G. Dantec. Also part of the cast are Gérard Depardieu, Michelle Yeoh, Charlotte Rampling, Mark Strong, Melanie Thierry and Lambert Wilson. Directed by Mathieu Kassovitz (The Crimson Rivers, Gothika).
Lots of action and explosions. Looks entertaining for the most part. But then the special effects take over and the last 20 seconds look like something from Sunshine. Which seems fitting since the trailer also uses the 'Requiem for a Tower' song that was prominently used in that trailer. But good to see that Yeoh will show some moves.

The Duchess     .mov 17MB   .flv 13MB
Full trailer from the UK for this period drama adapted from Amanda Foreman's best-selling novel Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire, documenting the romantic entanglements of a beautiful celebrity (Kiera Knightly) whose unhappy marriage to the Duke of Devonshire (Ralph Fiennes) threatens to erupt into scandal when she falls for an enterprising young politician. Also part of the cast are Charlotte Rampling, Dominic Cooper, Hayley Atwell and Simon McBurney.
When the press release pointed out that this duchess is in some way related to Princess Diana I ignored it but now they even put it in the trailer which seems to me pretty unnecessary and of questionable taste. Besides that it looks like an interesting costume drama. Quicktime download link looks a bit odd but 'right-click, save-as' should change it into a .mov file.

The Wackness     HD480p 43MB   HD720p 109MB
Full trailer for this coming-of-age comedic drama set in the summer of 1994 in New York City, when Giuliani just became mayor. It centres on a troubled teenage drug dealer (Josh Peck) and a drug-addled psychiatrist (Ben Kingsley). The former trades pot for therapy sessions and also falls for the doctor's step-daughter (Olivia Thirlby). Famke Janssen plays the doctor's wife. Method Man and Mary-Kate Olsen are also part of the cast. Movie won the Audience Award this year in Sundance.
Looks like a nice little movie. And I think people in the NY area can especially relate to the heat at the moment.

Kabluey     12 MB
Quirky comedy about an inept young man who comes to help his sister-in-law (Lisa Kudrow) tend to her homicidal toddlers while Salman's brother is off fighting in Iraq. He must take a humiliating job as a giant blue corporate mascot (think Marvin in blue) to help make ends meet and hold the family together. Further cast members are Christine Taylor, Chris Parnell, Teri Garr, Conchata Ferrell, Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
One of you has already seen the movie and has confirmed that it's an enjoyable, little indie comedy.

Boy A     HD480p 29MB   HD720p 82MB
Drama from the UK (where it already screened on TV) that tells the story of a young ex-con (Andrew Garfield) who gets released from prison after serving a 14 years sentence for a murder he committed as a child. He enters a world he has never been part of. His caseworker Terry (Peter Mullan) sees the good in him and does everything in his power to give him a second chance. He finds a job and a girl-friend but he is still haunted by his grim past.

The Other Boleyn Girl     First 9min 46MB
Parallel to the DVD release in the US, the first nine minutes from this historical drama starring Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johansson and Eric Bana were made available online.
