Choke     .flv 10MB   HD720p 79MB
Trailer for another big screen adaptation of a book by Chuck Palahniuk (Fight Club). It's a dark, social satire about a sex-addicted med-school dropout (Sam Rockwell) who keeps his increasingly deranged mother (Anjelica Huston) in an expensive private medical hospital by working days as a historical reenactor at a Colonial Williamsburg theme park. At night he runs a scam by deliberately choking in upscale restaurants to form parasitic relationships with the wealthy patrons who "save" him. When his mother reveals that she has withheld the shocking truth of his father's identity, he enlists the aid of his best friend (Brad William Henke) and his mother's beautiful attending physician (Kelly Macdonald), to solve the mystery before the truth of his possibly divine parentage is lost forever. Directed by Clark Gregg who also plays a role.
Looks funny and like an excellent role for Rockwell.

He's Just Not That Into You     HD480p 48MB   HD720p 71MB
Romantic comedy with interconnecting story arcs that deals with the challenges of reading or misreading human behaviour. Very extensive cast includes Ben Affleck, Jennifer Aniston, Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Connelly, Kevin Connolly, Bradley Cooper, Ginnifer Goodwin, Scarlett Johansson and Justin Long. Directed by Ken Kwapis (License to Wed, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants).
I guess we all know in front of which movie this trailer will be shown this weekend. Looks as sweet as one would expect, though judging from the trailer, the challenges don't seem to be that big.

Step Brothers     HD480p 36MB   HD720p 117MB
After a so-so first trailer, now a second, redband one with lots of bad language that indicates that this comedy that reunites Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly might be funny after all. Ferrell plays a sporadically employed thirty-nine-year-old who lives with his mother (Mary Steenburgen), Reilly a terminally unemployed forty-year-old who lives with his father (Richard Jenkins). When the two single parents marry and move in together, the two guys are forced to live with each other as step brothers. As their narcissism and downright aggressive laziness threaten to tear the family apart, these two middle-aged, immature, overgrown boys will orchestrate an insane, elaborate plan to bring their parents back together. Directed by Adam McKay (Talladega Nights, Anchorman).

Surveillance     13 MB    Clip1   Clip2   Clip3    German
Very disturbing thriller about two FBI agents (Bill Pullman, Julia Ormond) who track a serial killer with the help of three of his would-be victims - all of whom have wildly different stories to tell. The movie's directed by Jennifer Chambers Lynch. And yes, she's the daughter of David who also co-produced, which should give you an idea what I mean by "disturbing". Plus three clips and a link where you can find a longer German trailer.

Tôkyô!     8 MB
First short teaser for this movie that consists of three unrelated stories, all set in Tokyo, directed by the interesting combination of Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine, Be Kind Rewind, The Science of Sleep), Leos Carax (Les Amants du Pont-Neuf, Pola X) and Bong Joon-ho (The Host, Memories of Murder).
The movie screened in Cannes and, unsurprisingly, available reviews see the result mixed, diverging widely which segment they liked and which one not. I guess we have to see for ourselves, hopefully soon with a more meaningful trailer. A word of caution, if you're allergic against stroboscopic effects, don't watch the trailer.

The Hobbit     Online   .pdf
As probably some of you know there was a one hour chat with director Guillermo del Toro and producer Peter Jackson where they answered fan questions about the upcoming movie. Now there's a transcript available either to read online or download as a .pdf file. I haven't read it but the first words by del Toro were "Hi! Guillermo here- It's a bit cloudy in London but people are already drinking out on the streets- God Bless the pubs." so it could be fun.
