Comedy about a successful, single businesswoman (Tina Fey) who dreams of having a baby discovers she is infertile and hires a working class woman (Amy Poehler) to be her unlikely surrogate. Sigourney Weaver, Greg Kinnear, Maura Tierney and Dax Shepard round up the cast. Surprisingly, Judd Apatow doesn't seem to be in any way involved.
Very funny until Amy Poehler shows up and is forced to perform a very infantile role. But, glasses are damn sexy, as fans of "30 Rock" already can attest.
The Life Before Her Eyes 17 MB
Intense drama about a suburban wife and mother (Uma Thurman) who begins to question her seemingly perfect life and perhaps her sanity on the 15th anniversary of a tragic high school shooting that took the life of her best friend. In flashbacks, Diana is a vibrant high schooler (Evan Rachel Wood) who, with her shy best friend Maureen, plot typical teenage strategies, cutting class, fantasizing about boys and vow to leave their sleepy suburb at the first opportunity. Directed by Vadim Perelman (House of Sand and Fog).
A little too intense for my personal taste but it sure looks interesting.
Jodhaa Akbar 37 MB
Not sure how many people are interested in Bollywood movies, but this one seems to be a particular epic which means it will probably be difficult to keep its running time below four hours. Besides a long trailer it also has release dates scheduled for the end of the month in India, the US and the UK and later in the year for Germany. It's directed by Ashutosh Gowariker who also was responsible for the Oscar nominated Lagaan.
A sixteenth century love story about a marriage of alliance that gave birth to true love between a great Mughal emperor, Akbar (Hrithik Roshan), and a Rajput princess, Jodha (Aishwarya Rai).
Bonneville 8 MB Feat 34MB
Road movie about three women (Jessica Lange, Joan Allen, Kathy Bates) who take a road trip to Santa Barbara in order to deliver the ashes of one of their dead husbands to his resentful daughter (Christine Baranski). Tom Skerritt plays a friendly trucker who becomes an unlikely suitor.
When a movie with a cast like this isn't able to get distribution for more than a year then it's a sign to lower expectations. Reviews indicate that the actresses save the day of the by-the-numbers feel-good movie. Maybe a better candidate for cable-viewing on a rainy afternoon. Also, a ten minute featurette with interviews and about the making of the movie.
Cloverfield .mov 4min 134MB .flv 4min 26MB Interview/Spots Abrams .mov 232MB Abrams Online
Better version of the first four minutes, either in quicktime or flash-based, of the JJ Abrams-produced monster movie. Also a link to cast interviews, behind-the-scenes footage and half a dozen TV spots.
And while already on the subject of JJ Abrams, an entertaining 18 minute presentation he recently held in which he talks about movies. Partially very funny, and partially quite revealing since he basically tells us that "Lost" is just a $15 mystery cardboard box with nothing in it. Sort of.
