12:07 pm - Dave Chappelle's Block Party, Duck Season, Aquamarine, Ultraviolet, Roving Mars It's too good not to share, even if the technical quality isn't the best. A montage from that other great movie about male friendship, starring Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer combined with the song from this year's Golden Globe winner.
Dave Chappelle's Block Party 35 MB A live show, a combination of comedy and music, that was shot on location last year, as comic Dave Chappelle threw a party in downtown Brooklyn, inviting local residents and cameras. Directed by none other than Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine). Among the guests are Kanye West, Mos Def, Erykah Badu, Talib Kweli, Common, Wyclef Jean, Lauryn Hill, Dead Prez and Jill Scott. Download, although hosted by yahoo, is slow.
Duck Season - Temporada de patos 27 MB Comedy from Mexico shot in Black and White that shows us the Sunday morning of two fourteen-year old boys, Flama and Moko. They want to play video games when a power failure forces them to look for alternatives. With their neighbour Rita and pizza delivery boy Ulises, they create their own adventures to overcome their boredom. The movie explores the loneliness of childhood, the effects of divorce and the curious power of love and friendship. Looks funny and a bit like a PG version of Clerks (although it's rated R in the US).
Aquamarine 24 MB Comedy about two teenage girls who discover a mermaid in their beach club's swimming pool. They try to get her back to the sea, but matters are complicated by the fact that the mermaid has a crush on a good-looking gift shop owner. The girls are played by singer JoJo and Emma Roberts.
Ultraviolet HQ 20MB HD480p 40MB HD720p 104MB HD versions of the Sci-Fi action thriller set in the late 21st century. A subculture of humans have emerged who have been modified genetically by a vampire-like disease (Hemophagia), giving them enhanced speed, incredible stamina and acute intelligence. The world itself is on the brink of worldwide civil war between humans and hemophages. Ultraviolet, played by Milla Jovovich, is one of the infected. Directed by Kurt Wimmer Equilibrium. Everything looks a bit photoshopped but it's still fun to watch Jovovich in colourful, tight costumes kicking some ass.
Roving Mars 33 MB 40-minute documentary about NASA's Mars expedition shown in Imax theatres starting this weekend in the US. It looks a bit like an advertisement for NASA, but the computer enhanced images from Mars nevertheless look great. An article about the making of the movie.

Ooh...UltraViolet!
Darn. I'm hooked, now. ;o)
It's definitely a case of, if the movie sucks, we'll always have the trailer. ;)

Hee! Aah, Top Gun, the movie that taught me what homoeroticism was. Good times...
I think it's fair to say that Tom Cruise paved the way for the success of Brokeback Mountain. ;)
And I'm sorry to hear that you had to stop the countdown. But don't worry there are enough good vibes left for the next attempt.

Tom Cruise: pioneer. In a way he didn't quite intend.
I shall hold on to the good vibes until next week. They are gratefully received.
The "Brokeback Squadron" link had me chortling happily! Yay for slashy bliss! :)
The more I think about it the more I reach the conclusion that Ang Lee should have thanked Tom Cruise in his Golden Globe acceptance speech. ;) |
