10:29 pm - District 9, Cemetery Junction, Shoe at Your Foot, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Planet 51 District 9 HD480p 47MB HD720p 120MB The full trailer for this low budget sci-fi movie made in documentary-like style in which an extraterrestrial race which is forced to live in slum-like conditions on Earth suddenly finds a kindred spirit in a government agent that is exposed to their biotechnology. Directed by relatively unknown Neill Blomkamp who expanded his own short film to a full feature film. There aren't any well-known actors known actors but it's produced and promoted by Peter Jackson. Still looks quite intriguing. And apparently it will be more action-heavy than previously indicated.
Cemetery Junction 10 MB Short teaser, with no footage from the actual movie at all. Just the writer/director duo Ricky Gervais/Stephen Merchant announcing their next movie, together with one of the stars: Ralph Fiennes. Very funny, just have a look. The movie itself will be a 1970s-set comedy centred on three upstart professional men working at an insurance company. Also part of the cast will be Emily Watson and Matthew Goode.
Shoe at Your Foot - Jusqu'à toi 15 MB Nice looking Canadian-French co-production that's a romantic comedy and it might have some potential. Jack (Justin Bartha) is encouraged to take the romantic Paris vacation he won, despite just being dumped by his girlfriend. His trip soon devolves into chaos and adventure, when his luggage is swapped for a French businesswoman's (Mélanie Laurent) belongings who soon takes a liking to his belongings - especially his shoes - and sets out to find him. Billy Boyd is also part of the cast. Trailer is from France so the French parts aren't subtitled but I don't think that's a problem.
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs HD480p 49MB HD720p 124MB Full trailer for this animated movie based on the children's book of the same name. It's about a scientist (Bill Hader) who is trying to solve world hunger encounters a problem of global proportions, as food begins to fall from the sky. Other voices are provided by Anna Faris, James Caan, Bruce Campbell, Andy Samberg, Mr. T and Tracy Morgan.
Planet 51 HD480p 47MB HD720p 113MB Full trailer for this animated sci-fi, family comedy adventure. It's about the inhabitants of Planet 51 who live in fear of alien invasion. Their paranoia is realized when an astronaut (Dwayne Johnson) arrives from Earth. Befriended by a young resident, he has to avoid capture in order to recover his spaceship and try to return home. Other voices will come from Jessica Biel, Justin Long, Seann William Scott, Gary Oldman and John Cleese. Nice idea, but it looks mainly loud.

Comments:
Oh, wow, District 9 looks awesome. I've heard a few viral radio ads that were intriguing but didn't know much else about it. How cool that it's so international! It looks really interesting.
Ah, the director's from South Africa, and it looks like the movie is set in Johannesburg.

They have put together a very well thought-out marketing campaign. Using all available media.
Yes, and the short it's based on was called Alive in Joburg. I wonder how the movie will be received in South Africa.
Possibly about as well as Slumdog Millionaire was received in Mumbai, I'd imagine.
I think that means mixed but mostly positive?
I think that District 9 one was filmed in So. Africa, or is supposed to be set there- because I was telling my So. Africa to get his act together because people were stealing his thunder!
Yes it is. The director is from South Africa. I'd be interested to hear what the reaction to the movie is in South Africa once it comes out.
Time for So.Af. to leave an impact! What's he been doing in the last few months! ;)
I clicked on the second one right away, for obvious reasons, and it did make me laugh. Out loud, even. Needed that after a crappy evening, so thank you. ;)
Me too! :) Trailer files have been piling up in the last few days. But a lot of them were just bad flash-based versions (and I like to wait until official releases of better quality files) or movies I didn't care too much about. But I knew I had to make an entry soon otherwise the backlog would get too much. And this little teaser provided the final jolt to make an entry last night.

Cemetary Junction: Ricky! Stephen! Love.
Jusqu'a toi: Cute-looking. Looking forward to an English trailer. :)
Cemetary Junction: I watched it three times before I went to bed last night. :)
Jusqu'a toi: It caught my eye yesterday. It could turn out either way but there are little bits in the trailer that make me very hopeful. Fingers crossed! :) Oh and I forgot to add that the planned Canadian title will be Shoe at Your Foot. Just in case you'll come across it. Though I wouldn't rule it out there will be a different US title.

A very sci-fi-y section of movies! Except for the Frenchy.
I have to say, that looks like a lot of fun. And Billy Boyd! Also 'jusqu'a' is one of those damn French words I can never remember the meaning of. I just looked it up again during my last class, and here I've forgotten it again. I think it means 'just up to' or something.
Also, I rather love Dwayne Johnson, I wish he would star in a movie I want to actually watch!
It look very sweet. I'm hopeful. I was counting on you to provide a translation! :) It was getting late last night and I totally forgot to look for an English title. Imdb says that the Canadian title will be Shoe at Your Foot. But that sounds pretty odd to me.
Yes, I also think Dwayne Johnson can do better. They even could've made better use of him in Get Smart. Hopefully he'll be able to make some better choices in the near future.
...they are making cloudy with a chance of meatballs into a MOVIE? o_O
I loved that book as a child but I dont see movie potential for it. and the trailer seems to be really off tone with the book but...ah well I guess they are really short of ideas in hollywood these days clearly :( now they have to start ruining childhoods! /drama queen
I'm afraid so. I'm not familiar with the book but judging by the trailer it looks like they made it into another movie for quick consumption. Even after about a dozen enormously successful movies from Pixar, none of the other companies even tries to create something comparable. |
