07:11 pm - Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Watchmen, Day the Earth Stood Still
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince     HD480p 38MB   HD720p 86MB   HD1080p 144MB
Entirely new trailer for the next instalment of the series. From the official description: Voldemort is tightening his grip on both the Muggle and wizarding worlds and Hogwarts is no longer the safe haven it once was. Harry suspects that dangers may even lie within the castle, but Dumbledore is more intent upon preparing him for the final battle that he knows is fast approaching. Together they work to find the key to unlock Voldemort's defenses and, to this end, Dumbledore recruits his old friend and colleague, the well-connected and unsuspecting bon vivant Professor Horace Slughorn (Jim Broadbent), whom he believes holds crucial information.

Watchmen     HD480p 50MB   HD720p 131MB   HD1080p 184MB
Another good looking trailer, this time with dialogue fragments, for Zack Snyder's (300) adaptation of Alan Moore's graphic novel. When an ex-superhero is murdered, a vigilante named Rorshach (Jackie Earle Haley) begins an investigation into the murder, which begins to lead to a much more terrifying conclusion. Other cast members include Patrick Wilson (Nite Owl), Matthew Goode (Ozymandias), Billy Crudup (Dr. Manhattan), Jeffrey Dean Morgan (The Comedian) and Malin Akerman (Silk Spectre).
So Batman will be the narrator?

The Day the Earth Stood Still     5 MB
Very different international trailer for the "contemporary reinvention" of the dramatic sci-fi movie about an alien visitor (Keanu Reeves) and his giant robot counterpart who visit Earth and triggers a global upheaval. As governments and scientists race to unravel the mystery behind the visitor's appearance, a woman (Jennifer Connelly) and her young stepson (Jaden Smith, son of Will) get caught up in his mission - and come to understand the ramifications of his being a self-described "friend to the Earth." Kathy Bates, John Cleese and Jon Hamm are also part of the cast.

It came a bit unexpected but not one but two trailers for movies that a lot of people are interested in made an unscheduled posting necessary. :)

You're welcome!

Just to make sure you've seen it, links to the US trailer and the 7 minute footage. Though I'm not sure if it's a good idea to watch everything beforehand. And another short trailer was released last night. I'll probably post it once there are downloadable versions available.

Wow, that new HP trailer was kind of kick-ass. Almost makes me okay with Kloves fucking with the books' stories. Almost.

So excited for Watchmen! But yes, Rorschach's voice is harsh. :\

It looks very dazzling. Oh wait, wrong fandom. ;) But seriously, the HP people always make pretty awesome trailers. And since they this time have some extra eight months to make them ...

It sounds a little too close to that other very popular comic book character which itself became a bit annoying. But I guess they all have to sound very manly and stuff.

I don't think trying to sound like the Tasmanian Devil makes any superhero --- even Batman --- sound very manly and stuff.

Also, I agree about what you say about HP trailers. I've seen all the odd-numbered Potter movies and I have to say that I always like the trailers more than the actual movie.

While I like watching the trailers, so far none of them has seduced me to watch one of the movies at the theatre. :)

well, Rorschach is supposed to be the Batman-type character, so i guess they went with Bale/Batman voice?

thanks for posting that trailer, though! i had no idea a new one was out. i'm getting way excited about that movie, against my better judgement. :)

I'm not familiar with the graphic novel so I'm not really qualified to comment. But the parallel was a bit too obvious to ignore.

I have some issues with director Zack Snyder but so far I'm looking forward to it. You may be interested to hear that the movie is still on track to be about 2 1/2 hours long.

I'm confused, is this downloadable or?... Because the links I got here with said they were downloadable. And if they are, how? I don't know exactly how the quicktime thing works. Can you elaborate? Thanks in advance! :)

Amazing quality, btw!

Yes, I always try to provide downloadable links which means a simple "right click, save as" should start the download process to your hard-drive. Once the download is complete you can start watching the trailers from your hard-drive.
Of course, to do so you need to have a program installed that can play the files. In this case for the Harry Pottter and Watchmen trailer you need the quicktime player.

With which trailer do you have problems? The HP one should be no problem at all to download. The Watchmen from the yahoo site might be more difficult but it should easily work with Internet Explorer.
Before I try to explain more, let me first know which links you have problems with and what browser(s) you use.

Nah, I was just confused with how you save it, LOL. It doesn't have any problems right now ^^. Thanks so much!

The Philip Glass piece (from Akhnaten?)they used in the first half of the Watchmen trailer reminded me that I really need to get around to watching Koyaanisqatsi. And, you know, Watchmen :)

(Jackie Earle Haley may be channeling Batman, but I love how his stance and gait have not changed a whit since Breaking Away, haha.)

Re: Thank you~

I can certainly second the notion that you should watch Koyaanisqatsi. If you had a "Things You Must Eventually Watch" list then I would totally put it on that list. :)

It was many, many years ago. I was ready to go to bed when I did some quick channel surfing. "Quick" in this case really means quick since back then we only had three TV channels. And there I saw this strange movie. I was totally mesmerised by what I saw and heard. I had to watch it to the very end. As you can guess, it was Koyaanisqatsi. A few years later I also had the pleasure seeing it on a movie theatre screen. A very memorable experience.

Nice to see you stopping by. :)

Thanks for collecting the video links! I didn't know those trailers were out.

Reading your journal is like going through a really great entertainment news magazine, but with far more interesting subjects and none of the stupid.

You're doing a great job!

Gute Idee! Für morgen ist auch die Veröffentlichung des ersten richtigen Star Trek trailers angesagt. Bootlegs sind zwar schon im Umlauf aber morgen soll es die hi-def Version geben.

Wünsche eine angenehme zweite Woche. :)

Wollte immer auch mal "V for Vendetta" lesen.

I really liked the trailers so far, but I totally dislike this one.

There's so much more emphasis on the plot and the superheros being picked off, when I've always felt that Watchmen is a fundamentally melancholy piece of work rather than some 'bad-ass whodunit'.

I haven't read the graphic novel so I can't comment on the story.
You've probably heard that apparently Snyder changed the ending. I obviously don't know what to make of it since I neither know the original nor the new one. I will try my best to keep it that way until I'm able to see the movie but of course I'm curious what all the fuzz is about.

Oh I don't doubt the idea that Snyder is being faithful, and I think most people are being more unfairly strict than I am about that matter anyway, I just feel that the new trailer cares more about the plot than the tone of the original material.

I just don't feel that the plot is all that interesting anyway, so a new trailer all full of growling Bat-Rorschach and "OMGWTF dey attacking all d Watchmens" is far less interesting than the first teasers were.

Trailers without dialogue can be very impressive. They can even have the side effect that one gets surprised, like I did, when suddenly there's dialogue. :)
