11:55 am - Zack and Miri Make a Porno, Passengers, Real Time, Max Payne, Flow: For Love of Water Given the predominant topic of my blog I think I should mention that Don 'In a World' LaFontaine died at the age of 68. "LaFontaine made more than 5,000 trailers in his 33-year career while working for the top studios and television networks." Watch and listen to him in a GEICO TV spot, or watch a five minute feature about him.
Zack and Miri Make a Porno 65 MB Full trailer for Kevin Smiths's (Clerks, Dogma) new comedy. Of course, it's a redband one, but only because of the dialogue. It's about two lifelong friends (Seth Rogen, Elizabeth Banks) who are deep in debt and enlist the help of their friends to make a porno movie for some quick cash. But as everybody starts "doing" everybody, Zack and Miri realize that they may have more feelings for each other than they previously thought. Also part of the cast are Craig Robinson, Traci Lords, Jeff Anderson, Jason Mewes and there's what I suspect will be a cameo by Justin Long as lead actor in the sequel to Glengarry Glen Ross. Oh yeah, totally broke, but having a shiny Mac computer. Sure!
Passengers 10 MB Supernatural thriller about a grief counsellor (Anne Hathaway) working with a group of plane-crash survivors who finds herself at the root of a mystery when her clients begin to disappear. Despite her better judgment she becomes romantically involved with one of the survivors (Patrick Wilson), whom she also suspects may hold the answers to the mystery. David Morse, Andre Braugher, Clea DuVall and Dianne Wiest round up the cast. Directed by Rodrigo GarcĂa "In Treatment". After having listened to so many deep, sonorous voices earlier this morning it's not easy to keep a straight face watching the trailer.
Real Time HD480p 27MB HD720p 81MB Indy comedic drama that takes place in real time about a compulsive gambler (Jay Baruchel) who is given one hour to live by the man hired to kill him (Randy Quaid). The two available reviews from festivals are pretty good and it looks just like the low-budget movies I like to watch.
Max Payne 59 MB Another different, international trailer for this interesting looking, dark action movie starring Mark Wahlberg, Chris O'Donnell, Beau Bridges, Ludacris and Mila Kunis.
Flow: For Love of Water 21 MB If you're tired of watching news about wars about oil, how about watching a documentary about one of the next hot topics, the fight for drinkable water. The doc focuses on the growing privatization of the world's dwindling fresh water supply, as well as the politics, pollution, human rights, and the emergence of a domineering world water cartel. But it also gives viewers a look at the people and institutions providing practical solutions to the water crisis and those developing new technologies. Limited release in the US starting mid-September.

Comments:
Passengers
They might as well call it Final Destination 4.
*g* I'm just surprised that it's not a Hollywood remake of a Japanese horror movie. It has that kind of feel to it.
That is actually a very good point. They should use that fact for their ad campaign. :)
Whooo! They're making a Max Payne movie! Awesome.
And man I know plenty of people who would be totally broke as opposed to mostly broke *because* they had a shiny Mac.
Maybe you've seen it by now, in my previous entry I've posted links to shiny hi-def versions of the US trailer and the teaser for Max Payne.
I'm not that big a fan of the Cult of Steven. ;)
Thanks for the obit on Don Fontaine. So sad.
Also --broke, but having a Mac? That's why they're broke of course!!
And finally, I'm at work so can't watch these until later, but I love Patrick Wilson and the movie sounds sort of interesting.
Thanks as always!
I didn't really know him, not even his name, but of course I saw more than a few trailers that he (and his collegues with similar voices) tried to save with their voices. :) And judging by the short feature I saw of him on YouTube he seemed to have had his heart at the right place. So sad indeed.
Since those shiny objects are so darn expensive, that makes sense. ;)
'Passengers' looks and sounds a bit odd. But the presence of Wilson and Hathaway indicate that maybe there's hope. But I think it's a case where it will be important to read a few reviews first.
Glad to be of service. :)
Also, you have the best icons ever!
And good note about Passengers. I agree--I'll wait for reviews first!
I don't believe that. But it's very nice of you to say so. Thanks! :)
Darcy! (Thank you for proving my point!)
And you're welcome :)
Pretty much all of them aren't made by me. I just picked them up. I would love to continue our conversation a bit longer. But we just crossed midnight here, which is ... late. But maybe we can continue tomorrow at another point. :)
Oh, it doesn't matter that they aren't made by you!
And OMG --I am so sorry. I don't know how I missed your comment! I will definitely respond to that later on today and we can continue from there.
I didn't know if I should mention it since theoretically I could think of a reason or two why I got no answer to my vital questions. Though it seemed most likely that another comment notification just got lost. :)
With me, you should always mention it. :D
I'm going to go respond to it now!
Zack and Miri looks friggin hilarious, can't wait to see this. As for the shiny Mac, those are like, old-ass Macs from like the 90s. They fail in comparison to the new ones... if he had one of those, I'd be worried, cause they're like $3000.

I see! I am unable to distinguish Apple computers ever since I stopped working with an Apple II. :) |
