12:00 pm - Atonement, Spider-Man 3, Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, Rock the Bells, Children of Men
Atonement     23 MB    Rapid 23 MB
Full trailer hosted on a Keira Knightley fansite that's apparently part of the Holiday DVD. If you're able to navigate through rapidshare then I would suggest you use the provided upload by a Russian website to preserve bandwidth of the fanpage.
A classic British romance that spans several decades. Fledgling writer Briony Tallis (Romola Garai), as a 13-year-old, irrevocably changes the course of several lives when she accuses her older sister's (Keira Knightley) lover (James McAvoy) of a crime he did not commit. Brenda Blethyn and Vanessa Redgrave are also part of the cast. Directed by Joe Wright (Pride & Prejudice).

Spider-Man 3     19 MB
Another, entirely different trailer that focuses much more on Topher Grace's Venom character and the Black Suit. As usual, you should think twice about watching it to avoid knowing too much beforehand.

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian     6 MB
A production blog for the Narnia sequel has started which is scheduled to be in theatres next May. It's so far just a short introductory post by director Andrew Adamson but I'm sure there will be more updates in coming weeks so maybe some of you want to bookmark it. I tried to make an LJ-newsfeed for the blog but it seems as if the offered link can't be processed.

Rock the Bells     15 MB
Documentary about what it took to bring the Wu-Tang Clan together for their final performance at the Rock the Bells Hip-Hop festival. As one of the reviews puts it: "This isn't about the verities of hip-hop so much as the chaos and confusion of mounting a big production with a slew of stoned MCs." Already in limited release in the US.

Children of Men     Big 183MB   Small 27MB    Online
It's been weeks since I posted the last time about his movie, so I remedy that immediately with links to the recording of the Global Fan Summit that was hosted by amazon.com some time ago where Alfonso Cuarón answered questions for more than an hour. I haven't found the time to watch it in its entirety yet but from what I've seen it's well worth the download if you're interested in the movie.
I found links to two file sizes, you can also watch it online.

Nice one! Cheers!

Anything which goes some way towards making up for the lack of a Director's Commentary on the Children of Men DVD is always worth the download. :o)

It seems as if Cuarón doesn't get tired talking about the movie but he could've made it a lot easier for himself by just recording an audio commentary track for the DVD. :D

Since it seems so important to him there might still be hope that there will be another DVD edition. Some time before Christmas. ;)

I had to pause when I wrote the comment, but then I remembered that that was about "Casino Royale". :D

I'm holding off on buying CoM and Casino Royale in the hopes that fully stocked versions come out by the end of the year.

I'm holding out too.
[info]sensaes and I have made an informal bet when there will be a "Casino Royale" edition with a commentary track. He says it will be during summer, I say it will be autumn, possibly even for the Christmas shopping season. With a very small outside chance that it will only be at the beginning of next year when they will be able to add the first footage from the next Bond as a further incentive to buy. :)

So far no firm bets when the "Children of Men" DVD with a director's commentary track will be out. :)

Now I'm tempted to avoid reading Atonement before seeing the movie. Joe Wright's Pride and Prejudice looked pretty (as does this movie, if the trailer's a good indication), but irritated me as an adaptation. But then again, I doubt I would become so attached to the McEwan novel that it would inspire me to be so pedantic as to get annoyed at changes.

Thanks!

The thing about Atonement is that whatever you do first (read the novel or see the film) will greatly affect your first experience of it in another medium. And not just because you'll know the basic plot (as with any adaptation). It's a lot more fundamental than that.

From my (very) limited experience I tend to agree with parts of what the anonymous commentator said, whatever you consume first is what you like best most of time. Of course, the best solution would be if you're able to enjoy both versions as separate experiences without comparing them. But that's easier said than done especially if you do both things within a short period of time.

In this particular case I would also say that watching the movie first is better since I would expect that the book is even more epic/complex than the movie.

The book probably is more epic/complex, but there's a fundamental concept in Atonement which will only be able to have its full power once. I can't even begin to be specific without spoiling it, but it's not just a case of knowing some of the plot in advance.
I've obviously read the book first and it absolutely knocked me out. Because of what I now know there's no way the film will be able to achieve that to the same extent, but if it's a well made adaptation it should do so for others.

So I'd say that for your first experience you should choose the medium (book or film) that you generally find to be the most involving emotionally.

Re: P&P
Well, considering the only person who had read the book before the start of filming(I think Keira read it on set) was the person who wrote the script(AFAIK), I took it less as a "adaptation," which to me has more of a dedication to try to stay true the original, and more of a interpretation of an interpretation.

Of course, I might be highly biased because I saw it at a film festival where there was a lovely Q&A with Joe, Matthew and Mrs. Bennet(I can't remember her name), and they were all so nice and cheerful and happy. :D

Sorry, I'm a bit, hee, wordy these days. A++ on the Emma Thompson icon.

A Q&A with the makers of a movie is alway nice.

I believe the name you were looking for is Brenda Blethyn. :)

It's not easy to keep track of all the developments when it comes to "Spider-Man 3". Running time will be about 2 1/2 hours.

They are even planning the third part at the same time. :)

*shakes fist at satellite* ;)
Don't download the Narnia clip, it's nothing material.
If you're interested, a more compact quicktime version of the Atonement trailer.

Atonement : I still can't quite buy Knightley in that role, although she looks very good in the costumes. Go little sister, go! Ruin your older sister's romance! I've done that once or twice, myself. Not to the extent of accusing people... but, you know, making my opinions known. *cackles* So, yes, looks like a beautiful movie, at least.

Spidey 3 : Wouldn't load or download or anything for me. Which is a pity, because I'd like a Spidey-light trailer. I'll try again later. :)

The Chronicles of Narnia : *whistles and cheers*

Atonement: It's looks very dramatic. Maybe a little too much for my personal taste. But Knightley and McAvoy seem capable to pull it off.
And I have to admit that I find her very hot in all the promo material for Pirates 3. :)
I'm sure it was all for the better of your sister. ;)

Spidey link seems to be still working. Hope you'll have better luck later since it is indeed a Spidey light version. ;)

I've seen the first Narnia movie only recently (shown on TV over the Easter weekend, when else? :D). The thing that boggled my mind: Santa Claus stopped by and gave the kids weapons. Hilarious!

In spite of their relatively unconventional look, I find Romolo Garai/Saoirse Ronan a lot more alluring in this trailer than Keira Knightley.

Great, I'm a lesbian pedophile.

At least you're aware of it which might be a good first step. ;)
