11:57 am - Sunshine, Starter for Ten, Host, Grace Is Gone, Situation Sunshine [Online Sendspace US 8MB Sendspace UK 8MB] Edit: From Russia with love: Quicktime US 19MB Quicktime UK 14MB Finally, the official trailer for Danny Boyle's (Trainspotting, 28 Days Later..., The Beach) upcoming movie about the sun. 50 years into the future, the Sun begins to die, and Earth is dying as a result. A team of astronauts are sent to revive the Sun - but the mission fails. Seven years later, a new team are sent to finish the mission as they are Earth's last hope. The very interesting cast includes Cillian Murphy, Michelle Yeoh, Rose Byrne, Cliff Curtis and Chris Evans. Follow the first link and you can watch the US trailer online, with the second link you can download the US trailer via sendspace (direct download link isn't stable) and the third link leads to the download of the shorter UK trailer (converted streaming file). I suspect technically better version will surface soon. Much more info about the movie on the production blog.
Starter for Ten 6 MB Entirely different US trailer for this nostalgic, romantic comedy set in 1985 that focuses on a working-class student (James McAvoy) who stumbles romantically and academically through his first year at a posh private university in England. The UK trailer.
The Host - Gwoemul 19 MB Excellent new trailer for this horror movie from South Korea that does a much better job at showing that it's not a pure horror movie but it also has a good story, strong characters and even some humourous elements. A mutant tadpole emerges from Seoul's Han River and focuses its attention on attacking people.
Grace Is Gone 9 MB Two one minute clips (in one file) for this drama that deals with the question how relatives react upon hearing that a relative died in the Iraq war. In this case a father (played by a very serious looking John Cusack) who upon hearing that his wife was killed he takes his two daughters on a road trip. Movie will take part at the official competition of the Sundance Film Festival that starts today.
The Situation 5 MB Clip1 Clip2 Low budget drama about a love triangle between a CIA operative (Damian Lewis), an American journalist (Connie Nielsen), and an Iraqi photographer plays out against the backdrop of the war in Iraq. Directed by Philip Haas (Angels and Insects, Up at the Villa). Given the large number of documentaries about Iraq I'm not sure if this movie really has to take place there too. Additionally, two clips. Limited release in the US starting in February.

Bizarrely, SendSpace is blocked from here! *Disconnects GigaBank in a huff.* ;o)
Will try again tonight...

Extra options are always handy! (Although it's a flippin' nuisance that Apple can't just get their finger out. *Rolls eyes.*) Thanks, mate - will give it a go as and when...
Updated the entry with links to official quicktime versions of the trailers from a Russian site. Probably due to the time difference. I wouldn't be surprised if they also surface on some other sites this night.

Oh, you star! I've just got in, and was heading over here to give SendSpace a go! *G*
And the links even seem to be stable. :)
Hope you made it hope safely, I've heard there'a bit of a breeze outside.

...call me old-fashioned if you will on this one: Naming any mission "Icarus II" is sort of asking for trouble, really. ;o)

That's very true! Icarus alone would be ironic enough, but indicating that it's the second one is almost a bit much. :D

*G* And yes, mate - took a while, but home now!
Yay a new Danny Boyle film!!! *squeal* I LOVE Danny Boyle!
I can't wait for Sunshine. I couldn't see the 'Grace is Gone' trailer because my computer doesn't understand the file, but I can't wait to see that one too. :D
I think it's really applaudable how Boyle tries various genres. Sometimes he hits, sometimes he misses a bit but it's always interesting. A basic FLV player may teach your computer a new trick. :)
Yeah, this is so not what I would expect from, well, the director of Trainspotting and 28 Days Later, neither of which are huge sci-fi crazy times.
Yes, and his last movie before 'Sunshine' was 'Millions', a children's movie.
Okay, that Sunshine trailer looks pretty awesome, BUT...I know the Requiem for a Dream theme is the best music ever, but can we please stop using it for EVERY TRAILER EVER?
Yes, even I who doesn't know too many scores is familiar with it by now. But I can understand why it is so popular. 'Sunshine' itself (or to be more exact, the trailer) looks a lot more action movie than I thought it would. In case you're interested, trailers are now available in quicktime.

Oh, is that what the music was? Requiem for a Dream? Sweet. :)
I'm a Danny Boyle fan and a Damian Lewis fan....this BOTH I've got to see!!!
Well, then I would say this entry is practically tailor-made for you. :)

Oh, I just knew you'd have a version of the Sunshine trailer I could watch. I saw it linked yesterday, but couldn't get it to play. Looks great, unsurprisingly.
I saw the trailer for The Host a couple of weeks ago when I went to see Volver. I don't normally do horror movies, but there's something very appealing about it.
But it was a close call. They first tortured us with flash-based and streaming file versions. :) Definitely looks good. And even though I didn't really expect anything I'm a bit surprised how much action there is in the trailer.
Same here. Usually I almost automatically skip movies with the label 'horror' attached to it. But 'The Host' really seems to have more to offer so I'm also looking forward to it.
Hiya, found your journal mentioned in a Damian Lewis group and have just friended to keep updated. Thanks for links to the clips for The Situation and Sunshine, am looking forward to both of these films.
Welcome, and thanks for letting me know!
This redheaded guy seems to be quite popular. :)

"Sunshine" - The two Russian links came up as 404 not found, but the first online link came up okay. That looks interesting, but I was very distracted by the music they played, since I found it to be really familiar and totally gorgeous. Must find out what it is.
"Starter for Ten" - Hey! I listened that as an audiobook just a few weeks ago! Looks like it follows the book pretty closely, actually, based on the preview. I might see it, if only to to compare the book with it.
The links have changed. I've edited the post with the new links. I think by now everyone and their mother linked to that Russian site. :D It's always fun to see how those links spread across the various movie sites. The official production blog said that hi-def versions will be released on the apple site soon but so far they haven't turned up. And as I can see you already solved the music problem. I knew you would be able to find the track. Downloaded it myself. Thanks! :)
Cool coincidence! I really like the trailers for 'Starter for Ten'. Ah well, I don't have to tell you about the advantages of British humour. :)

And it always happens so fast, too!
Downloaded it myself.
Oh, I totally love it. I was thrilled when I was able to find a copy so easily online.
Ah well, I don't have to tell you about the advantages of British humour. :)
Solid fan here. =D |
